I Filed a Dispute — What Happens Next?

What to expect after you file a credit card dispute for a ShopEarl order.

If you filed a credit card dispute (also called a chargeback) for a ShopEarl order, here is what to expect.

What happens after you file a dispute:

  1. Your bank notifies ShopEarl of the dispute through the card network.
  2. ShopEarl reviews the order and gathers information related to your claim.
  3. ShopEarl submits a response to your bank with the relevant details.
  4. Your bank reviews the response and makes a decision.
  5. You are notified of the outcome by your bank.

How long does the process take?

The dispute process typically takes up to 75 days from start to finish, depending on your card network (Visa, Mastercard, etc.). This is significantly longer than resolving the issue directly with ShopEarl.

Can I still contact ShopEarl during the dispute?

Yes. If you have questions about your order or want to provide additional information, you can still contact our support team. However, once a dispute is filed, the resolution is handled through the formal dispute process between your bank and ShopEarl.

Can I withdraw my dispute?

If you decide you want to resolve the issue directly with us instead, you can contact your bank to withdraw the dispute. Once the dispute is withdrawn, we can work with you on a resolution through our normal support process.

Important notes:

  • While a dispute is active, the funds are held by your bank — ShopEarl cannot issue a separate refund for the same transaction during this time.
  • If you filed a dispute but the issue has already been resolved (for example, you received a refund), please contact your bank to withdraw the dispute.
  • The dispute process is handled by your bank and the card network — ShopEarl provides evidence and information but does not make the final decision.
