Preparing Your Core for Pickup
How to get your old core ready for freight pickup and what condition it must be in.
Your old core must meet specific condition requirements to qualify for a full core deposit refund. Preparing it properly before pickup helps avoid delays or rejection.
Core condition requirements:
Your core must meet all of the following conditions:
- Correct matching core — the core must match the product you purchased (same part type and specifications)
- Same type as ordered — the core must be the same type of part you received (e.g., if you ordered an engine, the core must be an engine)
- Drained of all fluids — all oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and other fluids must be fully drained before pickup
- No external damage — the core must be intact with no cracks, holes, or visible external damage
- Complete and fully assembled — no missing components. The core must be returned as a complete unit
Getting ready for pickup day:
- Have the core accessible and ready for the freight company at the address listed on your BOL
- Keep your BOL document available — the freight driver will need it
- Make sure the core is on a pallet or otherwise prepared for freight handling, if applicable
- Be present or have someone available at the pickup location during the scheduled pickup window
- The freight driver will typically call you on the day of pickup to arrange timing — watch for that call, since missing it can result in a missed pickup
What happens if my core does not meet these requirements?
If your core does not meet the condition requirements, the seller may reject it. Core rejections are rare, but if your core is incorrect, damaged, or unusable, you may receive a partial refund or no core deposit refund at all.
If you miss your scheduled pickup:
If you miss your freight pickup, it is your responsibility to reschedule directly with the freight company. The contact information is on your BOL. The seller does not reschedule missed pickups.
