Warranty Claim Status and Timelines

What happens after you file a warranty claim and how long each step takes.

After you file a warranty claim, ShopEarl files it with the seller and coordinates the process. Here is what to expect at each step.

The warranty claim process:

  1. Claim received — ShopEarl confirms your claim and reviews the documentation you provided.
  2. Claim filed with seller — A ShopEarl representative sends your claim and all supporting evidence to the seller.
  3. Seller reviews — The seller reviews the claim and may request additional information. Response times vary by seller, but ShopEarl follows up if the seller does not respond within 2 business days.
  4. Seller decision — The seller approves or denies the claim based on the evidence provided.
  5. Resolution — If approved, the seller arranges a replacement or refund.

Possible outcomes:

  • Replacement: The seller sends a replacement part. This is the typical outcome for remanufactured and aftermarket parts, since these sellers usually carry inventory of the same part.
  • Refund: The seller issues a refund for the part. This is the typical outcome for used parts, since salvage yards often have one-of-a-kind inventory and may not have a duplicate available. Once a refund is issued, it can take up to 10 days to appear on your bank or credit card statement.

What about labor costs?

Standard warranties do not cover labor costs for removing and reinstalling parts. Labor reimbursement is only available with premium warranty packages, and only according to that package's specific terms. If you purchased a premium warranty, check those terms for labor coverage details.

How to check your claim status:

  • Check your Orders page on ShopEarl for the latest status
  • Contact our support team via email or phone with your order number for an update
  • If you filed through the support form, you can reply to your confirmation email

How long does the process take?

Timelines depend on the seller's response time and the complexity of the claim. ShopEarl follows up with the seller within 2 business days if there is no response. Most claims are resolved within 1-2 weeks, but complex cases (especially those involving inspection, additional documentation, remanufactured parts, or any type of replacement) may take longer.

If your claim is denied:

If the seller denies your claim, ShopEarl will relay the reason to you. Common reasons for denial include not following manufacturer installation procedures, not performing required programming or calibration, or warranty period expiration. See Understanding Warranty Coverage on ShopEarl for details on what can void your warranty.

If you believe the denial is unfair, contact our support team. While the seller makes the final determination, we can follow up with the seller on your behalf.
