What Happens If I Refuse Delivery?
What happens when you refuse a delivery varies based on whether your order ships by small parcel or LTL freight.
When you refuse delivery, the package is automatically returned to the seller. However, whether you should refuse depends on how your order ships.
Small parcel (UPS, FedEx, etc.):
If your order ships by small parcel, do not refuse delivery. Accept the package and start a standard return instead. If you refuse a small-parcel delivery, you will be charged both the original outbound shipping cost and the return shipping cost — both deducted from your refund.
LTL freight:
If your order ships by LTL freight, only refuse delivery if the item is visibly damaged when it arrives, or if ShopEarl or the seller has instructed you to refuse it. Otherwise, accept the delivery and start a standard return.
Refusing a freight delivery without one of those reasons makes you responsible for both the original outbound shipping cost and the return shipping cost — both will be deducted from your refund. In every case, refusing delivery does not automatically trigger a refund; please contact us so we can open a return and process it.
If you've already refused delivery:
Contact our support team with your order number. We'll open a return for you and let you know what to expect for your refund, including any shipping costs that may apply.
Important notes:
- Refusing delivery does not automatically start a return or trigger a refund. You or our team will need to open a return.
- Refund timelines after the seller receives the package: 3 business days for standard parts, 10 business days for engines, transmissions, and control modules. Bank processing can add up to 10 days after that.
